Located in the Northern - Eastern part of Metro Vancouver, Maple Ridge is located between Fraser River and Golden Ears. History of Maple Ridge
On 12th September 1874, Maple Ridge was incorporated as a district municipality with an area coverage of 130 km. This city is the 5th oldest municipality in British Columbia after Victoria, Langley, New Westminster, Chilliwack, and Victoria. You can visit Maple Ridge Museum or Pitts Meadow Museum to learn more history about this town. Alternatively, you can visit Fraser River Heritage Walk or attend Caribbean Festival or any other historical festival to learn more about the history of the town.

Due to its proximity to Fraser River, Maple Ridge town has numerous water activities which may entail fishing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, wakeboarding and water skating. If you want to catch sturgeon and salmons, Fraser River and Pitt Lake are the ideal locations.
Watching birds
Pitt Lake is among the greatest freshwater lakes in the world attracting blue herons and bald eagles. This has made Maple Ridge area an ideal destination for ornithologists and bird watchers either for research, fun or educational purposes. Besides Pitts Lake, Whannock Lake Park and Pitt Polder are other areas bird watchers prefer spending their time.

You can visit Laity Pumpkin Patch, Bruce’s Country Market or Hopcott Premium Meat to get food, meet some farm animals and maybe try smoked salmon. Visitors and residents usually shop in the downtown area of Maple Ridge because that’s where most shopping centers are found. However, the downtown area has about 600 shops where you can buy home accessories, kids’ clothes, toys, furniture, etc. With numerous shopping options, the items you want to buy and your budget might be the only limiting factors.

Maple Ridge and Pitts Meadow have famous people among them athletes, musicians, and even movie actors. Larry Walker (Professional Baseball player) and Cam Neely (Boston Bruins NFL player) are originally from Maple Ridge town. Famous musicians Elmer Tippe (Father) and Rick Tippe (son), David Townsend and Rock Matthew Good are from this town!
The town has not only been used in filming movies but produced Hollywood stars, e.g., Molly Walker (Actress who featured in Six Feet Under movie as well as Deadwood movie). Some scenes from Twilight movie were shot from this town. Additionally, A-Team, Happy Gilmore, Jumanji and 3000 Miles to Greenland were all filmed in different locations in Maple Ridge town.
